Solution

Liquids: A liquid is a state of matter which has definite mass and volume but no definite shape.

example: Water, alcohol, milk, mercury, etc.

Properties :

  1. Liquids have a definite mass and volume.
  2. Liquids do not have a definite shape.
  3. Liquids are slightly more compressible than that solids.

Gases: A gas is a state of matter, which has a definite mass, but no definite shape and no definite volume.

Properties :

  1. A gas contained in a vessel has a definite mass.
  2. Gases do not have definite shape and volume.
  3. Gases are highly compressible because intermolecular spaces between them are very-very large as compared to solids and liquids.
  4. Intermolecular forces are negligible.

Hence, Liquid and Gaseous is the correct word for blank space.
