Photosynthesis is an important physiological process that takes place in the chloroplast of the green plants wherein sugar is synthesized from water and carbon dioxide in the presence of light. This is also referred to as carbon assimilation reaction as this oxidation- reduction process involves a light reaction and dark reaction where water is oxidized and CO2 is reduced to carbohydrates.
