Solution

The correct option is A I and III only
The duration of menstrual cycle differs from female to female. This condition is applicable when the cycle is occurring naturally and is being regulated by the naturally occurring hormones occurring inside the body. But, once the intake of hormonal pills from outside has started, the cycle is regulated by the hormonal inputs from outside and it becomes more or less regulated artificially. In this case, the duration becomes around 28 days. An average pack of hormonal pills is designed to be consumed according to a 28 day cycle.
Some companies manufacture a pack of 21 pills. All the pills contain hormones. The users are advised to take the pills continuously for 21 days (3 weeks), and not to consume any pill during the last 7 days (1 week).
Other companies manufacture a pack of 28 pills. There are 21 hormonal pills and 7 pills of a different colour. This separate colour indicates that these are non hormonal/ inactive pills which can be taken in the last 7 days when menstruation occurs.
Hormonal pills should be taken for 3 weeks without a break. If they are missed continuously for 2 days, the contraception can be considered a failure. If the user forgets to take the pills, then she needs to adopt an additional contraceptive method along with the pills for that particular cycle.
The hormonal pills are not taken continuously. They are taken for a duration of 21 days, followed by a gap of 7 days, after which this pattern is repeated.
