Given the average of set of $5$ numbers is $10$

mean (Average) $= 10$

no. of numbers(observations) $= 5$

Here A number $14$ is deleted.

we know average $= \frac{s u m o f n u m b e r s}{N o . o f n u m b e r s (o b s e r v a t i o n s)}$

Sum of $5$ numbers $= 10 \times 5$

$= 50$

Here remaining sum of no"
i.e. 4 numbers sum

$= 50 - 14$

$= 36$

$∴$ new mean (Average) $= \frac{s u m o f 4 n u m b e r s}{N o . o f n u m b e r s (o b s e r v a t i o n s)}$

$= \frac{36}{4}$

Average of the Remaining four numbers $= 9$
