Solution

Step 1:Find the sum of runs scored by the first 6 batsmen.

average=SumofobservationsNumberofobservationsSumofobservations=average×Numberofobservations

So, the sum of runs scored by the first 6 batsmen =35×6=210

Step 2: Find the new sum and the new number of observations.

If two more batsmen join the group who score 52 runs and 18 runs each, then

The new sum of runs scored by batsmen =210+52+18=280

and the new number of observations will be 6+2=8

Step 3: Find the new average.

average=SumofobservationsNumberofobservations

So, the new average=2808=35

Hence, the average runs scored by the 8 batsmen=35.
