Lets consider x is total distance covered by the car.
The half of the distance covered with speed 20m/s at time t1
t1=x2×20=x40sec
Next half distance covered with the speed 30m/s at time t2
t2=x2×30=x60sec
Total time, t=t1+t2
t=x40+x60=x24
The average speed, v=xt
v=xx/24=24m/s
