So the total of their weights $=3x$.

A & C lose y kg each & B gains $\frac{y}{2}$kg.

So the total change in original total weight =($\frac{y}{2}$-y-y)kg

=$-\frac{3y}{2}$kg.

=$3x-\frac{3y}{2}=3(x-1)$ (given).

$⟹6x-3y=6x-6⟹y=2kg.$
