Chromosomes show different banding patterns depending on the type of the dye and the treatment variations. Chromosomes stained with quinacrine mustard gives alternating bands of bright and dull fluorescence, which are called as Q bands. When the pre-treatment of chromosomes with the proteolytic enzyme trypsin is followed by staining with Giemsa stain, process is called as G banding. It stains euchromatin, centromeric and heterochromatin regions. When chromosomes are stained with Giemsa stain in alkaline medium, process is called as C banding. It stains constitutive heterochromatin regions. Hence, option D is correct.
