Question

The base and the corresponding altitude of a parallelogram are 35 cm and 42 cm respectively. If the other altitudes is 30 cm, find the length of the other pair of parallel sides.

Open in App
Solution

We know
Area of parallelogram = Base × Height
The other parallel line will act as base for the other altitude.
Let, the other base be 'x'
So, using the formula for area of parallelogram for each base and altitude at a time, we get:
35×42=x×30

x=35×4230

x=49 cm

Therefore, length of the other pair of parallel sides is 49 cm.
