The base and the height of a triangle are in the ratio 4 : 5. If the area of the triangle is 40 m2; find its base and height.
Let base be 4x m and height be 5x m.
∴12×4x×5x=40.
Let base of Δ =4x m
and height of Δ =5x m
area of Δ=40m2
∵12 base × height =area of Δ
12×4x×5x=40
10x2=40
x2=4
x=√4
x =2
∴ base =4x=4×2=8m
height =5x=5×2=10m
∴ 8 m; 10 m
