Question

The base of triangle of a triangular field is three times its height of the cost of cultivating the field at ₹2800 per hectare is₹37800 find the base and height

Open in App
Solution

Let the altitude of the triangle be x
Hence base = 3x
Area of triangle = (1/2) × base × height
= (1/2) × (x) × (3x) = 3x2/2
Cost of sowing the field at rs 2800 per hectare = 2800 × 3x2/2 = 5200x2
Therefore, 5200x2 = 37800
x2 = 37800/5200 = 9
⇒ x = 3
Base = 3(3) = 9
Hence base is 9 and altitude is 3.
