Solution

Given

Radius of first cylinder (r1)=18 cm

Height of first cylinder (h1)=30 cm

Base radius of new cylinder (r2)=12 cm

Height of new cylinder (h2)=?

Since the first cylinder is melted and recast into new cylinder.

Volume of a cylinder = πr2h

Volume of first cylinder = Volume of new cylinder.

πr21h1=πr22h2

(18)2×30=(12)2×h2

h2=18×18×3012×12=67.5 cm
