Solution

The correct option is A A. Weismann
August Weismann is a German botanist. He has made a remarkable contribution to the world of science through his theory of germplasm. According to him, genetic information is stored in the germplasm in gonads. This information is transmitted from one generation to another through gonads only. Gonads are reproductive cells. They are responsible for the transmission of hereditary characters. Somatic cells of the body don't have any role in the transmission of genes from one generation to another. This idea was opposite to that of Lamarck and also paved the way for modern genetics.
So, option B "A. Weismann" is the correct answer.
