The blood vessel that normally carries oxygen-rich blood is known as veins.
Arteries are blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart. They mostly carry oxygenated blood. Arteries divide to form smaller arterioles which further divide to form the finest blood vessels called capillaries. Capillaries form extensive networks within tissues and deliver oxygen and nutrients to the tissues. They also pick up carbon dioxide and wastes from the tissues and join to form venules which further join to form veins. These veins carry deoxygenated blood to the heart.
