Solution

The correct option is A

scattering

Scattering of light is the irregular or partial reflection of light.
The amount of scattering that occurs is dependent upon the wavelength of the light. Sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the Sun more than they scatter red light. So as white light from the Sun passes through our atmosphere, the light with smaller wavelength are scattered by atmospheric particles while the light with larger wavelength are most likely to pass through the atmosphere without a significant alteration in their direction. This scattering of smaller wavelength light illuminates the sky with the light on the violet end of the visible spectrum. Compared to blue light, violet light is most easily scattered by atmospheric particles. However, our eyes are more sensitive to light with blue frequencies. Thus, we view the sky as being blue in color.
