Elevation in boiling point :- The boiling point of a liquid is that temperature at which its vapour pressure becomes equal to the atmospheric pressure. i.e. 760 mm of Hg.
When a non-volatile solute is dissolved in a pure solvent, its vapour pressure is decreased. The difference of boiling points of the solution and pure solvent is called elevation in boiling point.
