Question

The boy running along a circular track of radius 7m and he completes one orbit in 10 seconds. find average speed and velocity.

Open in App
Solution

step 1: Given data:

  1. Radius = 7m
  2. Time taken = 10 seconds

Step 2:Finding average speed:

We know that,

Distance of circular track = Circumference of a circle.==2πr where π=3.14 and r is radius of circular track.

=2×3.14×744m

Now,

AverageSpeed=ChangeindistanceChangeintimeinterval=44-010-0=4410=4.4m/s.

Therefore, the average speed is 4.4 m/s.

Finding average velocity:

Averagevelocity=ChangeindisplacementChangeintimeintervalHere,Changeindisplacement=0m/s2Averagevelocity=0m/s.

Displacement is zero because the boy returns back to the original position he initially started.

So, the average velocity is zero.

Hence, the average speed and velocity are 4.4 m/s and 0 m/s respectively.
