Fossil fuels: Fossil fuels are made from decomposing plants and animals. These fuels are found in the Earth's crust and contain carbon and hydrogen, which can be burnedt for energy.
Examples are coal, natural gas, petrol, diesel, kerosene, etc.
petrol and diesel are primarily used in automobiles as fuels. kerosene is used in lamps and cooking stoves.
Burning of these fuels releases heat energy and a large amount of carbon dioxide , smoke and water vapour which cause air pollution.
Hence, The burning of fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
