Question

The capacity of a cuboidal tank is 50000 L of water. Find the breadth of the tank if its length and depth are respectively 10 m and 2.5 m. (Given, 1000 L=1 m3.)

Solution

Given:

Capacity of the tank =50000 L

=50×1000 L

=50 m3 [Since, 1000 L=1 m3]

i.e., The volume of the cuboidal tank =50 m3

It is given that,
Length of the tank (l)=10 m
Height (or depth) of the tank (h)=2.5 m
Let the the breadth of the tank be b.
Volume of the cuboidal tank =Length×Breadth×Height

l×b×h=50 m3

10 m×b×2.5 m=50 m3

b×25 m2=50 m3

b=50 m325 m2

b=2 m
Thus, the breadth of the tank is 2 m.
