Solution

Answer: No

Distance always has an absolute/actual value.

Say, Let's say that Anita's car moves to the left of the center of the street, and it covers 3 miles. So, the position of Anita's car is -3 miles.
John's car moves to the right of the center of the street, and it covers 3 miles. So, the position of John's car is 3 miles.

Both the cars cover the same distance, i.e., 3 miles, but ultimately not positioned at the same place.

The answer is NO
