  1. The introduction of wastes in the water which makes the water unusable for drinking, cooking, cleaning, swimming, and other activities is called water pollution.
  2. Pollutants like sulphur, nitrogen and phosphorus lead to eutrophication in the water bodies i.e the excess algal growth.
  3. The microbes increases in number by carrying out aerobic respiration(respiration in presence of oxygen) and consuming oxygen that is present in water which results in a lack of dissolved oxygen in the water.
