A mature sperm is divided into a head, a midpiece and a tail. The head consists of a haploid nucleus (having the DNA content), acrosome (has enzymes that help in fertilisating the ovum) and centrioles (enabling division of the zygote post fertilization). The midpiece is packed with mitochondria which provides energy required for sperm motility, i.e., the flip-like movement of the tail.
