Question

The centre of mass of a disc of radius 85 m is moving with a velocity of 4 m/s on a horizontal plane. The angular velocity of the disc about it’s centre is 5 rad/s. Find the radius of curvature of the point P shown in the figure in meter.

Solution

Velocity of point P =V20+(Rω0)2
=42+82

Vp=45 m/s
acentripetal=(8)258=85 m/s2
And a=acpsinθ=16 m/s2
R=(Vp)2a=5 m
