Question

The Chairman of a big company visits one department on Monday of every week except for the Monday of third week of every month. When did he visit the Purchase department ?
I. He visited Accounts department in the second week of September after having visited Purchase department on the earlier occasion.
II. He had visited Purchase department immediately after visiting Stores department but before visiting Accounts department.

The correct option is A If the data either in I or II alone are sufficient to answer the question;
There could be at the most 5 Mondays in a month.
From Statement I, we can conclude that the Chairman visited Purchase dept. in the first week, i.e. before the second week (as given in statement I). So this answers the given question.

From Statement II and information given in question, we can conclude that
he could have visited Purchase dept only in the second week, after having visited Sales dept in first week (He went to Purchase in the week following his visit to Sales). And third week he doesn't visit any dept. He couldn't have visited Purchase dept. in fourth or fifth week, taking into consideration that the week before should have been Sales and the week after should have been his visit to Accounts dept.
So it had to be second week. This answers the question.
so either statement I or statement II would have answered the question.
so option C
