Kinetic Energy =12MV2
At initial state: K.E.=12(80+40)(2)2=240 J
From conservation of momentum, we have:
(80+40)(2)=(80(1)+40Vtrolley
Vtrolley=8 m/s
At final state : K.E.=[1280.12]+[1240.82]=1320 J
Change in K.E.=1320240=1080 J
