Solution

The correct option is A Grana
  • Chloroplasts are the green-colored plastids present in the plants and other protists such as Algae.
  • The Green color of Chloroplast is due to the presence of chlorophyll pigments a and b which helps in photosynthesis.
  • They are double membraned cell organelles with intermembrane space and have a disc-shaped structure called 'Thylakoids'. The group of thylakoids stacks to form Grana.
  • Based on the endosymbiosis theory, the algae such as Red algae and the Cyanobacteria(blue-green algae) have no grana i.e., the thylakoids are unstacked and single.
  • Therefore, the algal chloroplasts usually lack Grana.
  • So, the correct answer is 'Grana'
