The colour of the iris in all people around the world is not the same because of
difference in the type of melanin
The colour of your eyes depends on how much of the pigment melanin you have in your iris, which is the coloured part of your eyes. The more of this pigment you have, the darker your eyes will be. Blue, grey and green eyes are lighter because they have less melanin in the iris. Most people in the world will end up with brown eyes. The next most common colours are blue and grey, and green is the rarest colour. Besides giving our eyes colour, melanin helps protect them from the sun. Light eyes are much more sensitive to the sun's harmful rays than darker eyes because they have less pigment.
