Key features
Federalism:
a) It ensures national unity and at the same time allows symbiotic progress of both the Union and states.
b) A federal government allows for better representation of regional voices and dissent.
Separation of Powers:
a) Firstly, tyrannical use of power is avoided since it does not vest power in any single authority.
b) Secondly, the 3 organs of government also work as a check on each other, thereby maintaining a good balance in civil system.
Fundamental Rights:
a)These are important because they conform to a humane society.
b) They also protect citizens against arbitrary and absolute use of power by the State.
Parliamentary Form of Government:
a) It upholds universal adult franchise.
b) This ensures that one person is not having the sole responsibility of executive.
