Given :-
Common difference, d = -6
we know that, $a_{n} = a + (n - 1) d$
$a - 5 = a + (5 - 1) - 6$
$a_{5} = a + (4) - 6$
$a_{5} = a - 24$ ........ (1)
$a_{7} = a + (7 - 1) - 6$
$a_{7} = a + (7 - - 1) - 6$
$= a + (6) - 6$
$a_{7} = a - 36$ ........ (2)
Subtracting equation (1) & (2) we get
$a_{5} - a_{7} = 12$
