Solution

The correct option is D

Carbolic acid (Phenol)

NaHCO3Na++HCO3

HCO3 is decomposed by acid releasing CO2

HCO3H2O+CO2

If acid is stronger than HCO3 then CO2 is released. Phenol is less acidic and thus does not liberate CO2 with NaHCO3. The other carboxylic acid(s) and the benzene sulphonic acid are all stronger acids.
