Question

The concentration of a solution is 8%(w/w) and 10%(w/v). Calculate density (in g/ml) of solution.

Open in App
Solution

Concentration (w/w) is 8%.
This means that 8g of the solute is present in 100g of solution.
Concentration (w/v) is 10%.
weight of solute is 8g.
Volume of solution =8×10=80mL
Therefore,
Density of solution (d)=mass of solutionvolume of solution
d=10080=1.25g/mL
Hence the density of solution will be 1.25g/mL.
