Solution

The correct option is A 4×103 M
HCOOH (l)HCOO (aq.)+H+ (aq.)Initial: C 0 0Equilibrium:C(1α) Cα Cα
At equilibrium,
[HCOO]=[H+]

Ka=[HCOO][H+][HCOOH]=(Cα)2C(1α)
Since formic acid is a weak acid
α<<1.1α1

1.6×104=Cα2=0.1α2α=16×104=4×102
Concentration of HCOO ion at equilibrium= Cα=0.1×4×102=4×103 M
