Question

The coordinates of point A on the 𝑦-axis are given as (6m-12, 3m+8). Find the coordinates of A.

Open in App
Solution

We know that a point lying on the y-axis will have abscissa as 0.

⇒ 6m-12 = 0

⇒ 6m = 12

⇒ m = 2.

Now, substitute the value of m in the point to get the coordinates of A.

⇒ (0,3(2)+8)

⇒ (0,14)

Therefore, the coordinates of A = (0,14)
