The coordinates of the third vertex of an equilateral triangle whose two vertices are at (3,4),(2,3) are ________.

Open in App
Solution

Let 3rd vertex of equilateral triangle is (x,y).
As all sides of equilateral triangle are same so
(23)2+(y4)2=(x+2)2+(y+3)2=52+12
Now
(x3)2+(y4)2=(x+2)2+(y+3)2
6x8y+9+16=4x6y+4+9
10x+2y=12
5x+y=6 __(1)
And
(x+2)2+(y+3)2=25+1
x2+y2+4x6y=13 __(2)
By (1) & (2)
x=(1+3)/2 and (13)/2 and y=65x
