Solution

The correct option is A ₹440
Given,
The cost of 5 meters of cotton cloth is ₹250
and the cost of 6 meters of silk cloth is ₹360.

We know that if the length of the cloth increases, then the cost will also increase.

So, Length of cloth(x)Cost(y)
x1y1 = x2y2

Given,
For the cotton cloth
x1 = 5 meters
y1 = 250
x2 = 4 meters
and y2 = cost of 4 meters
y2 = x2 × y1x1
y2 = 4 × 2505 = 200

Also,
For the silk cloth
x1 = 6 meters
y1 = 360
x2 = 4 meters
and y2 = cost of 4 meters
y2 = 4 × 3606 = 240

So, the total amount, the tailor has to pay is:
₹200 + ₹240 = ₹440
