Solution

Step 1: Given information:

Cost of article for distributor=Rs.6,000

Cost of article for trader=Rs.7,500

Cost of article for customer=Rs.8,000

Rate of GST=18%

Step 2: Find GST paid by distributor:

The cost price of the article =Rs.6,000

Then,

Taxpaid=18%of6,000=6000×18100=Rs1,080

The selling price of the article for the distributor =Rs.7,500

Taxpaid=18%of7,500=7,500×18100=Rs.1,350

GST paid by the distributor is calculated as,

GSTpaidbydistributor=Taxrecoveredonsale-Taxpaidonpurchase=1350-1080=Rs.270

Step 3: Find GST paid by a trader:

The cost price of the article =Rs.7,500

Taxpaid=18%of7,500=7500×18100=Rs.1,350

The selling price of the article to the customer=Rs.8,000

Taxpaid=18%of8,000=8,000×18100=Rs.1,440

GST paid by the trader is calculated as,

GSTpaidbytrader=Taxrecoveredonsale-Taxpaidonpurchase=1,440-1,350=Rs.90

Hence, the GST paid by the distributor is Rs.270 and the GST paid by the trader is Rs.90.
