The place to be fenced in a rectangular field is the outer boundary of the field, which is the perimeter of the rectangular field.

So, length of fence required = perimeter of the rectangular field

We know that perimeter of a rectangle = 2 (length + breadth)

Therefore, length of the fence required
= 2 x (length + breadth)
= 2 x (150 +50)
= 2 x 200
= 400 m

The cost of fencing = ₹ 3 per metre (given)

So, the total cost of fencing
= Cost of fencing per metre x total length of the fence required
= 3 x 400
= ₹ 1200
