Let the length, breadth and height of the room be l, b and h respectively.

Surface area of the walls

2 (lh + bh) = 2 (6 × 3 + b × 3) = 6 (6 + b)

Cost of painting = Rs. (10 × 6 (6 + b))

From question,

10 × 6 (6 + b) = 600

6 + b = 10 ​

b = 4 m
