The cost of a table is 50% more than the cost of a chair.

Let us assume the cost of the chair to be x.

Then the cost of the table =x+50% of x=x+50100×x=x+0.5x=1.5x.

The cost of 3 chairs=3×x=3x and the cost of 2 tables=2×1.5x=3x.

The total cost of 2 tables and 3 chairs=$240

Therefore,

3x+3x=240

6x=240

x=2406

x=$40

Hence, 1.5x=1.5×40=$60

Therefore, the cost of each chair is $40 and that of each table is $60.
