Jute (Corchorus capsularis, Tiliaceae) is the most common bast fiber of phloem fiber which is extra xylary unbranched fiber with tapering ends, thick walls, narrow lumen and are extracted from stem. Cotton is the surface fiber of Gossypium. The cotton seed is hairy from outside, these seed coat hair serve to protect the seed. The ball of fiber, the lint, is removed from the seed by ginning and the lint is then processed into cotton fiber. The leaf segments of Raffia palms yield raffia fibers which are used in textile industries. Flax is soft fiber of Linum usitatissimum that is extracted from stem and root of the plant, it is less elastic than cotton and is used in textile industries.
