Question

The cubical container ABCDEFGH which is completely filled with an ideal (nonviscous and incompressible) fluid, moves in a gravity free space with a acceleration of a=a0(^i^j+^k) where a0 is a positive constant. Then the only point in the container shown in the figure where pressure is maximum , is

Solution

The correct options are
A B
C H
The pressure in fluid decreases in the direction of its acceleration.
So,
As we go in positive x, negative y and positive z, two fluid pressure will decrease as a=ao(^i^j+^k)
The maximum pressure will be at that point which has lowest, x-coordinate, highest y-coordinate and lowest z-coordinate.
Here, that point is B(0,a,0)
Option A is correct
The minimum pressure will be at that point which has highest x and z coordinates, and lowest y-coordinate.
Here, that is point -A(a,0,a)
Option C is correct.
