Question

the current flowing in a circuit is inversely proportional to resistance. then how can current flowing through all resistors be same in series connection

Open in App
Solution

The current flowing through the circuit is directly proportional to the potential difference applied across the circuit,i.e.,

I ∝ V

I = VR
1R is a proportionality constant and the current flowing in a circuit does not depend upon 'R' but the potential difference applied through the circuit.

However, in series connection the potential difference across all the resistors is different and if all resistors have same value then the value of potential difference is same across every single one of them but different from the one applied across the terminals of the circuit this is how the current through every resistor remains the same.
