The current produced by an AC generator with slip rings is shown in graphs (1) and (2). Then which of the following correctly represent the variations in current with time?
(2) only
Basically a slip ring in an AC generator allows the transmission of electric current from a stationary to a rotating structure. A generator having slip rings produces a current that continuously changes direction. Current in the opposite direction is taken as a negative current. Hence, the value of current will have a continuous change in its sign. Thus, graph(2) shows the variation of current with time.
