Solution

The defeat of Imperial Germany and the abdication of the Emperor led to the establishment of a republic in Germany in 1918. Political parties like the Social Democratic Party now tried to establish democracy in Germany. The republic lasted till 1933. Throughout its brief period of existence, the republic was beset with political instability and economic crisis. The political parties could not provide a stable government to Germany. This eroded the faith of the Germans in the republic and democracy. This gave Hitler and the Nazis the opportunity to come to power and abolish the republic.
