We know that a shunt resistance is connected in parallel to galvanometer as shown below. Let S and G be the resistance of shunt and galvanometer respectively.

IGIS=SG

G=ISIG×S

G=502020×12

[IG=20k and IS=50k20k=30kwhere, k is proportionality constant]

G=18 Ω
