Solution

Hardness is measured in terms of ppm of calcium carbonate.
1 mol of MgSO4 1 mol of CaCO3
120 g of MgSO4100 g of CaCO3
6×103g of MgSO45×103g of CaCO3
103 g of H2O contains 5×103g of CaCO3
So,
106 g of H2O will contain 5×103×106103g
So, the answer is 5 ppm.
