Question

The density of a gas is 10 times more than that of hydrogen. The molecular weight of gas (X) is___________.

Open in App
Solution

Since at STP 1 mole of a gas occupies 22.4 L. Therefore at STP both hydrogen and the other gas will occupy 22.4 L, so the dense gas have mass equal to 10 times that of hydrogen.

density=massvolume

mass=volume×density

Therefore, mass of gas=mass of H2×density=2×10=20
