Question

The density of a gas is found to be 5.46g/dm3at27°Cat2bar pressure. What will be its density at STP?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1:Given data:

d1 =5.46g/dm3

p1 =2bar

T1 = 27°C=(27+273)K=300K

p2 = 1bar

T2 = 273K

d2 = ?

Step 2: Formula used

Ideal gas law , PV=nRT

Density = MassVolume

Step 3: Calculation of the density :

Calculation of the density(d2) of the gas at STP , which can be calculated using the equation,

Density =(1x300x5.46)2x273

We get,

= 3gdm-3

Therefore, the density of the gas at STP will be 3gdm-3.
