Question

The density of a liquid is supposed to be ________ than the density of gases.

Solution

  1. The density of a body gives an idea about how closely the atoms are packed in a body.
  2. Density is the ratio of the mass of a body to its volume.
  3. More the volume occupied by a body, the lesser the density of the body because density is inversely proportional to volume.
  4. For a given mass, the volume occupied by liquids is very less as compared to gases and hence, the density of liquids is less than gases.

Hence, the density of a liquid is supposed to be greater than the density of gases.
