Let DC=x
and BD=3x



In right ΔBCD,
BD2=BC2+CD2
[Using Pythagoras theorem]
(3x)2=BC2+x2
9x2x2=BC2
BC=22x
So, the longest side of the rectangle is of length 22x and the smallest side is x.
Thus, the ratio of the longest side to the smallest side is 22x:x=22:1.
